Mineral Supplements
The body cannot use the vitamins without minerals. We cannot produce a single mineral ourselves. We are therefore completely dependent on getting all the minerals we need through our diet or dietary supplements. The body mainly consists of the elements oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, and hydrogen (a total of 96% of the body weight), of which oxygen makes up the largest proportion. The remaining 4% are other minerals. In the past, the importance of minerals for health was not given so much attention. New research has provided knowledge and expertise, and we now know the importance of minerals for good health. They are necessary for the body to function optimally. The minerals are either bound to molecules or they exist free in ionized form, i.e. they are chemically active and are “looking for” other substances to bind to. The minerals and trace elements are part of numerous chemical reactions in our body and are necessary to maintain good health.
